Old Rishwortians 34 - 0 Hornsea Yorkshire League 4
Match report Saturday 13th September Yorkshire 4

Newly-promoted Rishworthians got off to a flying start in Yorkshire Four. In the end Hornsea could not live with the pace of the Copley men, who fielded nine teenagers in their ranks. But it was the strength of No8 James Clark which gave them the platform for the victory. Two bullocking runs in the first 10 minutes brought tries and renewed confidence to the home side. While Hornsea provided stern opposition in the first half, they fell away in the second.

Early on Clark was quick to sieze on a loose ball at the back of the lineout and powered his way forward. He was hauled down short of the line. His pass went astray, but supporting lock Chris Fox was on hand to pick up and dive over. Minutes later, after good work by teenage lock Anthony Oxley, Clarke again burst through and Fox was there once more to collect the pass and score. Hornsea fought back but never looked like breaking down the Rishworthian defence. Centre Ben Porritt was just beaten to the touchdown after a kick through, but the home men remained in the opposition 22 and were soon able to extend their lead. The ball went along the line and fullback Joe Billing popped up to give the final pass to right wing Anthony Shoesmith. Near the end of the half Rishworthians found themselves under pressure on their own line. But they held firm and did not allow the visitors to pressurise them any further in the rest of the match.

Half time Rishworthians 15 - 0 Hornsea

It was not long into the second period before they were on the scoresheet again. Oxley took the ball well at a lineout and scrum half Dave Conroy, who had been a thorn in Hornsea's side throughout, linked well with flanker Tom Clough before left wing Nick Faulkner took an inside pass to score a fine try, Faulkner converting his own try. Faulkner was again on hand to take advantage of slack tackling and score after a strong jinking run. Faulkner again converted his own try. Near the end Rishworthians were rampant in a flowing move involving forwards and backs with Porritt and flanker Jioti Bakoso prominent. Hooker Dave Morris popped up to take the last pass and dummied his way over to score his first try for the club.
